The RWC quarter final between Australia and South Africa was a big match, the biggest moment in my ten-year professional refereeing career, and it didn't go well. I struggled to deal with external interference, self-doubt crept in, and I failed to produce an authentic refereeing performance. South Africa lost, blamed me (the ref), and overnight, I had over 100,000 South Africans joining a Facebook group demanding "Bryce Lawrence is sacked", with many threatening violence and harm.
